A clock from just carbon fiber wouldn't cut it, we took it one step above and utilized actual parts from a real Formula 1 car. While the actual clock is made from real carbon fiber, the central part used to make clock is a race and test used Lotus Renault F1 gearbox dog ring. This parts purpose was to allow the gears to mesh together and pull apart as the car changes gear when its accelerating or slowing down. The hour markers are all small anti-vibration fittings and nuts previously used by the Lotus F1 team. The gearbox dog ring was pulled from the 2011 R31 Lotus Renault car driven by Nick Heidfeld and Vitaly Petrov.
