Oscar Vargas, also known as wb.artist20, is a car artist dedicated to re-modeling the existing cars to make them look, sound, and perform better than the original versions. One of his latest projects is the total renovation of the 1988 Chevy Camaro with a ZZ632 engine. While the look of this new concept car displays the vibe of the notorious Chevrolet El Camino, first introduced in the late 1950s, the idea of fitting an entire carbon fiber body on a vintage car is somewhat mind-blowing to the modern automotive world.

That being said, the latest project from wb.artist20 is heavily influenced by the 1988 Chevy Camaro ZZ632/1000 from Hoonigan Industries at the SEMA 2021. It is not difficult to figure out why the model demonstrated at last year’s show represented the art of reinvention and became a major influence for wb. artist20’s 3D model.
As per the brand’s words, the model mounts a massive 1004-horsepower engine at 6,600 rounds per minute, aligning with its mission to make cars “bigger and bolder.” However, for wb.artist20, this entire creation can be “re-invented” even further. Why? When attempting to create an entirely new masterpiece, it is always best to think outside the box. This continuous innovation philosophy from the car artist is precisely manifested by the conversion of the engine placement and the fitting of full carbon fiber on the car’s body.
Rear-mounted V8 Engine Under Back Glass Cover
The original 1988 Camaro is a front-engine car that was very popular when first introduced. The engine placed at the front of the vehicle under the hood allows the heat emitted from fuel combustion to dissipate while maximizing traction under normal driving conditions. However, wb.artist20 has a staggering idea as he has converted the entire engine to the back of the automobile. The plan is to improve maneuverability while allowing the car to accelerate faster due to the weight balance at the rear wheels.
