Outstanding product. Excellent communication. Product is everything I expected and more. Not an Apple Watch person. With my cover? - I love wearing my Apple Watch.
I love that this accents my watch and looks more like part of the watch than a bulky case protector. One call out please remove it regularly just to wipe out any debris that could get trapped under it. I highly recommend this product!
This thing is awesome looking and if you are here, you love carbon fiber just as much as I do. I still catch myself admiring it at times and looking deep into the fibers under that high gloss finish. Unfortunately there are some things that I just don't like about it and I fear for the longevity of the case. - Doesn't come up high enough to protect the front glass. - Sharp edges by the glass catch and scratch objects (couple wall scrapes in my case) - Extremely thin and fragile. I feel like I could break it any second by accident. Why not add a few layers for more confidence? - Disappointing depth below the crown/button. Super small area that could have been larger for more support. This is the weakest point. - This should wrap around the watch body more, and I think that is why it comes off with light contact. - It has came off twice in my 1 month ownership and I didn't notice the 2nd time. Went back looking for it and luckily found it. At this price point, I feel like there could be more to this case. I hope I get some long ownership time with it. Once it's gone, I will not be buying another. For all these reasons, I cannot recommend this product at this cost. That being said, if there is a V2 that fixes some of these, I'M ALL IN!
Thank you so much for your detailed feedback Daniel! We absolutely take these seriously, and always appreciate good or bad feedback as it helps understand what we're doing right and wrong, and to make adjustments on our end when possible. I'd love to respond to each of our bulletpoints: - Sharp edges by the glass catch and scratch objects (couple wall scrapes in my case) We've actually not heard of this problem before...but we've notated and already passed on the feedback to our production folks so they can be more adamant about checking during quality checks. - Doesn't come up high enough to protect the front glass. - Extremely thin and fragile. I feel like I could break it any second by accident. Why not add a few layers for more confidence? - This should wrap around the watch body more, and I think that is why it comes off with light contact. When doing a 1-piece carbon fiber design, there is a fine balance between fitment, shape and thickness. We've been doing these cases since the Series 1 Apple Watch, and this is as good as it gets in terms of design (at least, for now, we routinely revisit). The case shape and thickness has to be able to snap onto the watch with a super tight tolerance. Once you start adding new layers, that changes the rigidity and causes issues. Additionally, we want the case to be as thin as possible because it's meant to be minimal and light to take advantage of the characteristics of carbon fiber. It's definitely fragile, but once on the watch, unless it's caught on something or you aren't careful when removing (which most people don't plan to), it should never break or come off. You should be very careful when removing/installing and be aware when doing things that it could catch on, such as removing clothing. As far as glass protection, I know some of our customers use it in conjunction with a screen protector. I've heard that not all work as it would need to completely clear the case as to not change its fitment, but it could be something to look into. - Disappointing depth below the crown/button. Super small area that could have been larger for more support. This is the weakest point. Our original version actually had this open, so it's technically an optional piece. This was added as extra security so that if it did get caught on something, it would be less likely to fall off and get lost. You could theoretically cut the bottom of that area off to make it open and the case would still be totally fine on your watch. I'd love for that to be a bit thicker and less fragile, but it comes back to the answer above. - It has came off twice in my 1 month ownership and I didn't notice the 2nd time. Went back looking for it and luckily found it. I'm glad you found it both times. As mentioned, just be super aware when doing things that it could possibly get caught on. It shouldn't ever be able to fall off by itself without something causing that to happen. If you don't plan on removing the case, some of our customers have done things like added a double sided tape to help keep it on the watch.
This things looks amazing! And it fits my Apple Watch perfectly.
This shield is gorgeous...however, it’s already fallen off three times! I am going to try a small piece of double stick tape, but I am almost definitely sure I will lose it! It is so light, that you will not hear it hit the ground.
Glad you think it looks so good! We hear ya on the case being able to fall off, it's really a design limitation around using a one-piece mold of carbon fiber, so it sort of comes with the territory. That being said, it should never fall off on its own, only when it gets caught on something...being aware in those moments (removing clothing, etc) is helpful. The double-sided tape is also another solution that works for those that are ok with that
This is my third carbon fiber case for my Apple Watches. They are light, stylish and do a great job of protecting my investment. It was the first thing I ordered when I got my watch. Love it!
Beautiful but do not buy for protection.
Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. This case is definitely meant to be more minimal in design and provide against things like scratches while transforming the aesthetic of your Apple Watch. Some of our customers have combined it with a 3rd party screen protector for some additional protection. We certainly understand that's not for everyone. If you decide it's not for you, please don't hesitate to initiate an easy return at returns.carbonfibergear.com.
The case itself is beautiful. No complaints about the quality. Carbon Fiber Gear does say it can come off. It came off twice in my home office over a few weeks then and I lost it on a 30 mile bike ride never to be seen (by me again). Love it but won’t be replacing it anytime soon.
As much as we don't like to hear something like this, we appreciate the feedback. It should never fall off on its own, is it possible that it got caught on something during your ride? With that said, we have recently made further improvements on the fitment for an even tighter tolerance. We're continually making improvements when possible, and your feedback is super important to us, good or bad!
