Callaway Golf makes some of the best golf drivers in the market, you may have heard of their Big Bertha brand. Now comes FT-iQ tour driver, modeled after Lamborghini's Reventon supercar:
The driver features a titanium face with a carbon fiber body. Its design is meant to launch the ball higher with less backspin than previous models. Its entire purpose is to create long bombs down the middle of the fairway by using a head shape which raises the moment of inertia. The Hyperbolic face technology raises the ball speed across the entire face for more distance.
To make the carbon fiber body, multiple layers of carbon composite pre-preg are laid into a tool which is the shape of the driver body. Each piece lays in a different direction from the one top of it or below it in order to create strength which it hardens. The tool has two sides, the sole and crown, which are brought together then put into an oven. More information on the process can be found here. The process took 10 years of research to perfect it.
The driver can be found for around $400-$500 on both Amazon and eBay.
