Chevrolet Announces the 2023 Corvette Z06 With Carbon Fiber Wheels Option
By giving the Corvette Z06 a new set of carbon fiber wheels, Chevrolet has shown a new definition for American supercars. As a tradition, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is a track-focused exotic car with serious performance qualities. Wider and bigger wheels and tires offer better grip and control on the track.
Specifically, the Z06 wheels’ dimensions are 20x10 inches on the front and 21x13 inches on the rear. The wheel tires on the front and rear are 275mm and 345mm respectively in width and are supplied by Michelin.
Chevrolet engineers want to make sure that the weight on the car’s backend reaches its best potential to enhance traction. The fact that they’re widening the tires also allows the chassis to breathe and cool the engine.

This innovative construction offers an unsprung mass saving of 41 pounds, reducing a considerable amount of unsprung mass compared to forged aluminum wheels. This is good news since less unsprung mass means the suspension can easily keep the wheels on the ground. Every gram matters when it comes to winning a race on the track!
When the car hits a bump on the road, you want the suspension to react within no time. The lighter the wheels are, the quicker the suspension can do it. Therefore, this weight reduction offers car agility and enhances its performance since lighter wheels spin faster naturally.
5 Spokes of Carbon Wheels Are Strong Enough to Support the Performance
Five-spoke wheels are robust enough to support the Corvette Z06’s weight. An aerodynamic trailing edge, five lugs to support the five spokes, and low-profile rubber on each spoke are all part of the new Chevrolet Corvette Z06’s open five-spoke design.

It begins by layering carbon fiber sheets before heating and pressurizing for hardening. The wheel is then put in a mold and subjected to extremely high pressures to release the trapped air. After that, the resin is pumped into the wheel. High temperatures cure the resin into a solid piece, securing the carbon fiber sheets in place and resulting in a solid and lightweight wheel.
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R Tire for Track Performance
The Cup 2 R tires equipped on the 2023 Corvette Z06 are the road-legal high-performance tires for the track. Designed for the world’s most powerful supercars to break the track records, the Cup 2 R tires now appear on the Corvette.
The Cup 2 R tires enhance contact with the ground by 10%, providing excellent lateral grip and driving accuracy. They optimize steering to keep the driver in control when turning and keep the car on track when overtaking other vehicles.
Carbon Fiber Wheels Option Might Drive The 2023 Corvette Z06 Price Up
Chevrolet will begin producing the first Corvette Z06 in the summer of 2022 and put the supercar up for sale as a 2023 model.
However, the American automobile manufacturer hasn’t revealed the price of the new Corvette Z06 yet. As the new model is likely to have a hefty price tag, we can estimate that it might cost somewhere between $80,000 and $90,000 since carbon fiber options add a few thousand dollars per set.
