If you’ve ever seen car wheels made from carbon fiber somewhere on the streets, chances are that those are a product of a global technology company called Carbon Revolution.
With over 60,000 carbon fiber wheels this company has made to roll on the road, Carbon Revolution is widely recognized as a leader in creating innovative and lightweight wheels to enhance the performance and efficiency of the automotive industry.
Founded in 2007, Carbon Revolution has evolved from a group of engineers who aim to develop and commercialize carbon fiber wheels to a premium choice for high-performance and sustainable aftermarket accessories.

The massive 5-liter V8 engine at the heart of the Mustang Dark Horse is not the only breathtaking feature of the 2024 model. To withstand the power produced by 500 horsepower and 418 lb-ft of torque, you need a set of well-built wheels.
Size and Appearance
Therefore, the new Mustang is outfitted with better, lighter, and bigger carbon fiber wheels exclusively made by Carbon Revolution. The stock wheelset is 19x9.5 inches at the front and 19x10 inches at the rear, with an option to be upgraded to 19x10.5 and 19x11 inches with the Handling Package, which we’ve seen on the Ford GT.
Now look at those 5-spoke, all-carbon rims that give off a feeling of sportiness, sinisterness, yet artfulness. While Ford and Carbon Revolution are in charge of the design and structure of the wheels, Hypetex - a UK-based company that produces colored technical coatings - stands behind the striking twill diamond weave that elevates its bold aesthetics.
If you look close enough, you’ll notice that the wheels feature barely visible blue detailing, aligning with the blue accents across the vehicle’s exterior and interior.
Weight and Performance
In single-piece carbon fiber, the new wheels reduce the unsprung mass of the Dark Horse by 37%, cutting roughly 21 lbs (9.5 kg) out of the 1770 kg curb weight on the stock model.
When it comes to unsprung mass, reducing 21 lbs in this area is similar to cutting 40 lbs from the chassis or anywhere else in the car. Why? Unsprung weight significantly impacts a vehicle’s acceleration, braking, and cornering capacities. This area is where the energy is transferred from the road and absorbed, affecting ride quality and road noise.
With an estimated top speed of the stock model at 178 mph (286 kph), the upgrade option promises more speed, faster acceleration, and higher efficiency at high-speed cornering. It’s reported that Ford is still tuning the wheels to ensure they fit perfectly on the car, and they’ve done over 200 structural and environmental tests to inspect the wheels’ validation.
Mystichrome Color-shifting Paint: From Blue to Amber

You don’t have to include this when checking on your Ford Mustang’s options list, but this 2024 model has a unique yet familiar color-shifting paintwork that has been seen in many other Ford cars, from the GT to the SVT Cobra, and now it’s on the Dark Horse.
This paint is called Mystichrome - Ford’s proprietary mixture that used to be illegal if mixed or sprayed without the brand’s permission.
On the Mustang Dark Horse, the signature blue color can shift to light amber, depending on the lighting and the perspective from which you look. Trust me, I’ve seen cars with this paintwork in real life, and they all look amazing!
And can you believe this: the paint costs $26,000 for a gallon (4.5 liters). So painting the entire Mustang Dark Horse, typically requiring 2-2.5 liters, will cost you around $10,000 only for the glossy, mystical, and chameleon-like finish.
But look, compared to the $100,000 Mystichrome paint on the 2019 Ford GT that used to run riot on the internet, this paintwork still seems pretty cheap and cheerful.
On Sale in Right-hand Drive (RHD) Markets in Late 2023
If you’re eager to get a first-hand experience of the Ford Mustang Dark Horse, unfortunately, you’ll have to wait for a bit, at least until 2024.
Ford has announced that the new Mustang, including its carbon fiber variation, will be on sale in late 2023 but only for the right-hand drive markets.
This statement means only those living in Australia, the UK, or Japan can get a close-up look at the new Mustang in flesh and bone after the car is released.
But don’t you worry!
Carbon Revolution has set up a growth and industrialization strategy that sees itself making more and more carbon fiber wheels in the future. Specifically, in late 2023, the company plans to start manufacturing its carbon fiber wheels on a mega line, increasing productivity and the range of vehicles equipped with carbon fiber.
Until then, you can see carbon fiber wheels on the Ford Mustang and electric SUVs, trucks, and aircraft. That time will be when anything carbon fiber you see on the street will likely come from one source - Carbon Revolution.
