Why you'll love it

Six things worth knowing.

  • Same look as carbon fiberThe full case is 600D aramid twill, the fiber family that includes Kevlar, with carbon fiber's aesthetic across the back and sides.
  • Drop-tested to MIL-STD-810HPITAKA runs the Summa through a 1.22 meter drop test. Resin fused into the aramid and a TPU layer underneath take the impact.
  • Coated, so it wipes cleanThe weave sits under a smooth coating, so the pattern shows. Fingerprints come off with a damp cloth or an alcohol pad.
  • Camera Control under glassThe button is covered in reinforced glass instead of cut open, and it presses with the same sensitivity as the bare phone.
  • MagSafe staysA magnet ring built into the back means MagSafe chargers, wallets, mounts and grips attach and charge through the case.
  • Signal passes throughCarbon fiber conducts, so an all-carbon case can weaken reception. Aramid doesn't, so cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC pass straight through.

You spent real money on the phone, and the case most people put on it is whatever hung by the register: silicone that collects pocket lint, or clear plastic that keeps the phone looking like it is still in the box. You hold this thing all day. It should be something you picked.

Since 2007 we have specialized in carbon fiber, which means we judge a woven case by the weave first, and PITAKA's Summa is why this one made the page. It is aramid fiber, from the same family of high-performance composite fibers as carbon fiber, and Kevlar is a brand of it. Woven in a 600D black and gray twill, it has the same look as carbon fiber, and unlike carbon it doesn't conduct electricity, so it won't weaken the phone's reception the way an all-carbon case can. It wraps the back and sides, thermoformed with a TPU layer and coated smooth. Resin fused into the aramid adds strength, and PITAKA drop-tests the case to MIL-STD-810H at 1.22 meters. Camera Control sits under reinforced glass and responds as usual, and the magnet ring in the back holds MagSafe chargers and accessories with the case on.

The case is cut for the iPhone 18 Pro and also fits the 17 Pro, where it leaves a small gap around the camera ring. Add it to your cart and carry a phone that gets picked up and looked at when you set it on the table.

01 / 03

Same look as carbon fiber

Aramid is the fiber family that includes Kevlar. It has carbon fiber's aesthetic, but it doesn't conduct electricity, so it won't get between your phone and its signal.

Tested from 1.22 meters

PITAKA drops the Summa under the MIL-STD-810H method. Resin fused into the aramid adds strength, and a TPU layer underneath cushions the landing.

03 / 03

Camera Control, under glass

Reinforced glass covers the button instead of an open cutout, and a light press still registers the way it does on the bare phone.

Questions people ask

4 questions

Yes. It is cut for the iPhone 18 Pro and also fits the 17 Pro. On the 17, PITAKA notes a small gap around the camera ring, since the two phones differ slightly in size and camera height. The reverse is the one to avoid: a 17 Pro case on an 18 Pro sits too low around the lenses to protect them.

Yes. A magnet ring is built into the back, so MagSafe chargers line up and charge through the case, and standard wireless chargers work too. MagSafe wallets, grips and car mounts attach the same way. Aramid doesn't conduct electricity, so the case does not interfere with cellular, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or NFC, and tap to pay works with it on.

Yes. The button sits under reinforced glass, and PITAKA tests the cases so a press registers as it does on the bare phone. If you want it lighter or firmer, go to Settings, then Camera, Camera Control, Accessibility and Light-Press Force.

No. It is aramid fiber, the family Kevlar belongs to, woven in a twill with the same look as carbon fiber. That matters on a phone: carbon fiber conducts electricity, so a case made entirely of it can weaken reception. Aramid doesn't conduct, so the signal passes through. Carbon is the stiffer fiber; aramid is known for toughness, which is why it turns up in protective gear.
