Bugatti Chiron: What Makes It So Special? 

Bugatti Chiron Line 

Bugatti’s Chiron hypercar will only have 500 units produced, a project that launched in 2016. The 300th Chiron to leave the Bugatti Atelier located in Molsheim, France, is a Pur Sport model. Pur Sport, as opposed to a regular Chiron, is a track-focused variant with less weight and more downforce.

As the president of Bugatti, Stephan Winkelmann, claimed, “Bugatti represents the most elegant, most extraordinary, and most powerful hyper sports cars in the world”. And with the completion of the 300th vehicle, the company once again demonstrates its expertise in quality and customization.

There’s No Two Alike

There are no two Bugatti Chirons that are the same, and Bugatti takes great pride in fulfilling consumer needs by making each Chiron one-of-a-kind.

Changes from the standard Chiron include a higher top speed, increased power output, and exterior and interior styling details. The body is made of exposed, jet-black carbon fiber set with racing stripes in Jet Orange. There are more air vents than the iconic Bugatti tail light bezels with a Gun Powder finish C-line. Also, the lightweight engine cover made from carbon fiber helps with further weight reduction.

The Build of Bugatti Chiron

The Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport weighs 110 pounds less than the regular edition due to titanium exhaust tips, titanium brakes, lighter magnesium wheels, and a fixed rear wing that extends more than six feet in diameter. Thanks to the combination of stickier Michelin Sport Cup 2 R tires and a bigger rear diffuser, the Chiron Pur Sport can stick to the ground like glue.

Despite its penchant for twisty curves, the Chiron Pur Sport, powered by a quad-turbocharged 8.0-liter W16 engine, remains very fast. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 2.3 seconds and has a horsepower of 1,479 and a torque of 1,180 pound-feet. However, the maximum speed of the Pur Sport is restricted to 217 mph, while a standard Chiron can reach 261 mph.

According to Winkelmann, The Chiron Pur sports car is sure to provide customers with satisfying pleasure thanks to its incredible driving performance. Also, the combination of design skill, highest engineering, and superior craftsmanship will make the Bugatti Chiron stand out from the rest. 


The Material 

Carbon fiber, also known as graphite fiber, is a polymer. It is a very strong but still very lightweight material. Because of the chainlike bonds between its molecules, carbon fiber is one of the hardest materials on the planet. Despite being stiffer and stronger than steel, carbon fiber is much lighter, making it a perfect manufacturing material for various parts.

Carbon fiber is composed of thin, solid crystalline carbon filaments that are used to stabilize material. Carbon fiber, which can be as thin as a thread of human hair, achieves strength when woven together like a rope. The carbon fiber can then be woven together to form the fabric, and if a permanent shape is needed, it can be placed over a mold and covered in resin or plastic.

On top of that carbon fiber also:

  • Has low thermal expansion
  • Has high chemical resistance
  • Has great tensile strength
  • Has a low weight to strength ratio

Thanks to these excellent properties, the Chiron utilizes a carbon fiber body structure. Besides making the vehicle lighter compared to other models, it also gives the Bugatti Chiron its unique and slick appearance.
